Huawei P20 lite among the devices that will get Android Pie update

Chinese technology giant Huawei is facing a challenging period since the US government acted against it, putting it on the restricted list on May 21 of this year.

Although the 90-day reprieve granted by American authorities has provided some relief to Huawei, it is struggling in the region to keep the pace.

Despite facing these odds, the Chinese smartphones manufacturing company has been trying to deliver its best regarding the firmware updates during the three-month reprieve it has been granted by US administration in the region.

EMUI 9 is the customized Android 9.0 Pie-based user interface for Huawei, which the company intends to deliver in many of its smartphones. In fact, Huawei has already provided Android Pie to millions of its devices.

Furthermore, EMUI 9.1 (which has come in the P30 series of Huawei, the upgraded version of EMUI 9), is also planned for a number of new smartphones.

Although the company had not mentioned which phones will be featuring the EMUI 9 and which will be getting the latest EMUI 9.1, as per the reports, Huawei’s Ecuador subsidiary has talked about the matter and has shared the list of smartphone devices that either already are or will be upgraded to either EMUI 9.0 or EMUI 9.1.

According to the reports published by some Latin American technology publications, Huawei smartphones such as  P30 Lite, P20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 Lite, Mate 9 & Y6 (2019)  have either been upgraded or will be upgraded to the EMUI 9.0 (Android Pie).

Huawei devices like Huawei P30, P20, P20 Pro, P20 Lite, P10, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 Lite, Mate 9 and P Smart 2018 either already have or will be provided with the EMUI 9.1 version.

As for as other phone series in both lists, they will be probably upgraded to EMUI 9 (Android Pie) first and then to the EMUI 9.1 version.

The Android Pie or EMUI 9 update for Huawei P20 lite was also announced by the EMUI in a tweet. The tweet mentioned that the Android Pie update for Huawei P20 lite is ready and is going to be released by EMUI in parts.

“Hi, the EMUI 9.0 update based on Android 9 is already out for P20 Lite and it is being released in patches. You will be getting the update soon. Stay tuned! For more details please contact our local support team or visit our support website,” the tweet by EMUI read.

Furthermore, the company has also shared details about the updated schedule for the arrival of Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 and EMUI 9.1 for Huawei Mate 20 Lite, Honor 7X, Honor 9N, and Honor 9 Lite.

According to that information, of all the listed devices, Honor 9 Lite is going to be upgraded to EMUI (Android Pie) at the earliest in mid-June of this year.

“We would like to inform you that our software team has confirmed the compatibility of Android Pie and expected to be released the final version of Android Pie for Honor 9 Lite in batches tentatively by the mid of Jun’19,” the company stated.

Glances of some new Features after Android Pie Update

Huawei P30 Lite is equipped with a 6.4inch HD+ display along with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone has come up with an Octa-core Kirin 710 processor in addition to the ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. It has 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by inserting an SD card into the microSD card slot.

The most notable feature of the Huawei P20 lite smartphone is the quad-camera setup on the rear panel in addition to a gradient finish. The smartphone maker has also come up with a punch hole design. Starting from the rear camera, it has a 16 MP primary lens along with an 8 MP wide-angle sensor, 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP Time of Flight sensor. The front camera is equipped with a 16 MP selfie shooter lens.

The Huawei P20 Lite is supported by a 4,000mAh battery along with a fingerprint sensor, which is located on the rear panel. Connectivity options in this smartphone include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port.
